Always one foot on the ground
So I've got about 20 minutes before I'm expected at a party. A Cookie Party to be precise. I love the people at this school. There should be cookie parties every Monday. But anyway.

I'm back at school. It's frightening, surreal, and completely comfortable. I know that it would be so easy for me to fall back into old habits and mess up, but at the moment I know that I can do this, and I can fall back on the amazing support network I've created if I need them. Or even if I don't. Communication was one of the things that I've had a huge problem with in the past, but I've made the commitment to keep in touch with the people who mean something to me.

I think that that should probably extend to you people too, but at the moment, I'd have absolutely no idea where to begin. Most of you barely know me, and even if you do, there's a good chance you don't know me well, and that a large chunk of your opinion of me is based on some stupid wank. I want to change that, I want to get to know all of you, because I did friend you for a reason, believe it or not.

For now let's do that with a question meme. Ask me any question you want, about anything, and I'll answer it. It could be something mundane or something important...doesn't matter. Something you've been wondering, something you're curious about...anything. I am an open book.

I should probably get ready for my cookie party, but I shouldn't be back too late. I feel like I should do a more substantial update about my new room and how amazing my a cappella tour was, but I don't have any energy. I slept for eleven hours last night and I'm STILL exhausted. Boo.

But yes. Ask away, I'll be back in a bit, loves. ♥

What's one song that you positively cannot listen to without dancing? Even if it's just a little hip sway or toe tap.

Oh, Jesus, I dance to almost everything I listen to at least a little bit. I have more trouble not singing along than I do not dancing, though, I think. But one song that I must dance to every single time would have to be "Teenage Wasteland" by The Who. It's just excellent. And I loves it.

Do you want to be a professional singer? Or what kinds of things are you maybe considering doing after school? I don't think I've ever asked - or if I did... I have alzheimer's forgot and am asking for a refresher.

I'm glad you're enjoying school! I know it was a huge move to make. ♥ Enjoy your cookie party, man.

I'd love to be a professional singer. That'd be doing the thing I love the very most and getting paid for it. I don't think I could ever be a performer though. It's a really tough business, and I don't know that I'm talented enough to make it, let alone the fact that I'd need to have amazing stage presence and all that other good stuff.

My DREAM JOB would be to be the voice of a Disney character in an animated movie, especially a musical one. Ever since I saw The Little Mermaid when I was three years old, that's what I've wanted to be. But they don't make those anymore. So. Boo.

And I have no idea what I want to do with my life after school. The summer before my junior year I did an internship at a literary agency, and it was really interesting to be a part of the publishing process, but I'm not really sure that something that high-stress is for me, career-wise. I think I'm probably going to end up falling into a career and will just feel around until I find something that I love. The idea of that used to scare the shit out of me, but since I've been working at Barnes & Noble and I know that I have that job to come back to when I graduate, I'm not panicking quite as much about all of that stuff. I still have time to figure it out, and even if I don't, I'm smart and I'll figure something out. Does that make sense? That was a bit more long-winded than I meant it to be.

You never know - you could always ask around or just talk about the idea, and maybe someone will have a script they're working on that's a musical? The Little Mermaid is a classic, though. I used to pretend I was a mermaid every time we went swimming for a few months after that movie. Too bad I couldn't sing underwater...

Ahh, gotcha. It makes a lot of sense! I think you'll figure it out; and going to school is honestly a great move. :Db Thanks for answering~

I know that they're making a new princess movie where the main character is black, and someone said that that's a musical, but so far everything I've heard about it has been through the grapevine, so I don't really know for sure. And even if they did start making them again, I'd have no idea how to get into that. My mom does voice-over work, and has for the last 25 years or so, but that's not necessarily the same thing, and...I don't know. It's just daunting. Something like that, there's only one person in the entire world who can get a role like that. The world needs a lot of garbage collectors, but only one Ariel.

I only needed eight more credits to graduate, it would have been really stupid for me not to finish up. I just need to buckle down this semester, and then I can go on with my life, degree in hand!

Well, that might be kind of cool. I'm just saying, it doesn't hurt to ask around? Just to see and get more info. Especially since it's not something you'd even have to do right away.

What classes are you taking?

Yeah, that's true. Mebbe I'll do that then.

I also have secret ambitions to try out for American Idol. I'm fairly certain that I wouldn't win, but I think I might be able to procure myself a ticket to Hollywood.

I'm taking an intro to computers class, a class on biography, and a class on women writers. Just three classes, and I'll be all set!

I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH YOU ON AMERICAN IDOL, MAN! I think you'd have a good shot, and the experience of getting over there would be awesome. I hope you do sign up for one season.

Ahhh, gotcha. They sound pretty interesting! Well, the last two do - the first sounds helpful.

It's really just a matter of me paying attention and knowing when I need to go wait in line for 24 hours and where. There was one year that I was determined to go, but we had company coming that weekend so I had to skip out. Maybe next year.

Yeah, the last two are the ones that are for my major, and I'm really looking forward to them. The computer one was just on a whim. I really wanted to take an art class, but there was no room left in any of the ones I tried to sign up for, so I randomly chose the computer class. My dad really recommended it, because he took a few computer classes in college and they've really helped him out at work since then!

I hope you end up going! I honestly think you'd have a lot of fun doing it.

Ahhh, gotcha. Well, I think computer classes are helpful in general, no matter what field you go into. Have your classes started yet? Maybe you said and I'm unobservant, but I was just wondering how it was going so far, if you've been to class yet.

Yeah! I think it'd be fun, and it'd be cool to get to be on TV. Haha.

They started today, actually! And I don't think that I said. I think that I need to be a little bit more explicit with my entries. There's so much stuff that I feel like I've left out that would just clear up things. But yes! My first classes were today, and I had the computer one and the biography one, both of which were awesome, and then tomorrow I have the women's lit one!

Probably, yeah. :)

Oh, hey - congratulations on your fiiiirst day back! And I wouldn't worry about it too much; it's easy to forget to say things since you yourself already know. At least, that's the excuse I use when I forget to include something that ends up confusing someone. >.> What? It's a good excuse, imo.

Enjoy the women's lit one - it sounds like it'll be fun. I love literature classes in general though, so I'm speaking from a huge bias here.

Oh, well I'm an English major, so I see your lit bias there. :3

They're also making a 'Rapunzel' movie starring Kristin Chenoweth. The new heads of the company and the company's films are both trying to get back to that place again, so if it's something you're really interested in I think you should look into it.

Umm...WHAT KIND OF COOKIES WERE AT THIS COOKIE PARTY?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]faemous

THANKS, JAZ!

There were many kinds! The most notable thing was this kind of giant, baking tray sized monstrosity of a chocolate chip cookie, straight out of the oven and slathered with vanilla ice cream, which was placed on the table and subsequently devoured by 30 or so people with forks in hand in less than ten minutes.

There were also chips ahoy, mint oreos, some kind of cookies with hazelnut chocolate on them, heart shaped cookies with frosting on them...there were just...a lot of cookies there. And milk! There was lots of milk to be had, for those who liked to dip, and for those who just needed to wash down the baked goodies.

All in all I'd say it was a successful party.

Oh man, it was. I was lucky enough to procure a fork before the madness was over, but there were a few unlucky onlookers who missed out because of a lack of cutlery. I might start carrying around a fork, just in case.

It reminds me of that episode of Friends where Rachel and Chandler keep stealing their neighbor's cheesecake because it's so good, and eventually someone drops one on the floor in the hallway and they both go get forks and start eating it, and Joey shows up, pulls a fork out of nowhere, crouches down, and says "So, what're we eating?"

Is this that thing when you ask questions back and forth? Hmm, I don't really have any Big, Profound questions to ask you right now. I'll just ask, um...what's a new thing you've gotten into recently? Like a series, or a hobby, or whatever! Something new, though, so playing Maple Story again doesn't count. XD

Pffft. Help me decide what text I should put on your icon. I am gonna make one. For reals.

Ugh - I've started back (again...for like, the thousandth time) as well and my brain is already broke. Good luck!

My question: What's your favorite Girl Scout Cookie? 'Cause yes, it's that time again and I've got them on the brain...
